Signs That There’s Something Wrong With Your Car
Heard something that doesn’t sound quite right as you’ve started up your car? Concerned that you’ve got a flashing light on your dashboard that wasn’t there before? While we want to ensure our cars run for as long as possible, there’s a strong likelihood that it’s going to have its fair share of problems at some point in the future.
With that being said, being mindful and aware of your car’s usual behaviour is important. That’s why when something doesn’t sound great, it’s good to spot it quickly so that you can get it fixed. Here are some signs that there’s something wrong with your car.
Dashboard warning lights
There’s nothing more ominous than a flashing warning light that pops up on your dashboard and just won’t go off. That’s always a concern and something you should make yourself aware of prior. Go through your car manual and make yourself aware of all the relevant dashboard warning lights, what they mean and when you should be worried about them.
A dashboard warning light that won’t turn off after stopping and starting the car again, is something to be mindful of and to follow up as soon as you see it.
A cracked windshield
Cracked windshields are never a good sign for any car owner and it can be frustrating when they’ve simply appeared out of nowhere. A cracked windshield is dangerous because it compromises the strength and stability of the windshield itself.
With a crack, it’s now compromised and if you were to get into a car accident, the windshield could do a lot more damage to you and those around you. It’s important to fix a windshield crack as soon as they appear, rather than to continue driving around as normal.
Flat tyres
Be aware of any changes in your tyres. Depending on your car’s model and technological features, it may alert you to a significant decrease in your car tyre pressure. However, for most, it’s a visual check that will make it apparent that something is wrong with your wheels.
A flat tyre or burst tyre isn’t safe to drive with, so it’s best to call out a service to have it fixed straight away. Your car’s tyres are what connect it to the road, so when these are damaged, that puts the entire vehicle in jeopardy.
Dripping liquid
Is there a mysterious puddle underneath your car? Dripping liquid is definitely not a good sign and should be something that’s queried as soon as possible. There may be a simple solution to the issue and one that needs no further exploration. However, when there’s dripping liquid coming from the car, then it’s best to get it seen to quickly.
Brakes not feeling right
If your brakes don’t feel quite right, then this is a warning to take seriously. After all, your brakes are responsible for slowing and stopping your vehicle. If they don’t work properly, it’s life-threatening for anyone in the car.
