How To Make Driving More Comfortable
Driving isn’t everyone’s favourite thing to do, but no matter whether you love it and want to do it as much as possible or hate it and only do it when absolutely necessary, you’re still going to want to make sure the whole driving experience is as comfortable as possible. In that way, not only will you enjoy it more (you might even start to like it), but you’ll also be safer – being uncomfortable behind the wheel can lead to all kinds of unfortunate situations. With that in mind, here are some of the things you can do to make driving more comfortable.
Get Better Car Mats
When you think of car accessories, what comes to mind? Probably lots of things, if we’re honest, because there are so many additions you can get for a car, truck, caravan, motorhome, or anything else. But something that’s going to make a surprising amount of difference when it comes to making driving more comfortable is good car mats.
You’ll want to have mats on the floor of your vehicle to keep it protected and stop it from getting too dirty, but when you pick good quality ones, perhaps even cushioned ones, you’ll also be a lot more comfy when you’re driving. Your left foot, at the very least, isn’t going to be on a pedal at all times, and ensuring there’s somewhere soft for it to rest makes sense – you won’t get distracted by a painful ankle when you put good car mats in place.
Make It Smell Good
Something else that can be an issue when it comes to the comfort level of your car is how it smells. We use our cars for all kinds of things, including eating or transporting food, and that can leave a lingering odour behind, and although you might just get used to it over time, it’s far better to have a sweet-smelling car to begin with, so you (and your passengers) don’t have to get used to anything.
You can choose from a huge range of different scents when you start looking at car air fresheners, and that’s the right move to make. Anything from fruity smells to less standard ones (bubblegum is a popular option, for example) are available, and you can even get air fresheners with pictures on or you might want to design a personalised one with your face staring back at you – the choice is most definitely yours (and as long as it makes the car smell good, it’s going to be perfect).
Declutter The Car
One other issue with comfort in cars is the clutter and rubbish that tends to build up. As we’ve said, we do use our cars for all kinds of things, and they can almost become extensions of our homes (which is why they need to be as comfortable as possible) because we’re in them so much and rely on them more than anything else. So, just like in your home, when you have a load of rubbish and unwanted items taking up space, it’s going to feel uncomfortable, even if you don’t consciously think about it.
By removing anything that doesn’t have to be in the car and clearing out the trash (or adding a bin bag in the car so you always have somewhere to put it), you’ll make the whole vehicle a lot more comfortable, and you won’t be so distracted, so it will be safer too.
[…] New cars depreciate very quickly. Did you know that you lose a quarter of your values for your car as you drive off the lot? If you’re trying to decide whether to buy new or used, you may as well go for a used one that’s not going to depreciate as quickly. Some makes of cars hold their value better than others, but not all makes of cars do. If you’ve borrowed money to buy the car, then going for a used car is a smarter idea because also it’s going to last you for a little longer than you expect. […]
